石陨石 Meteorite　　重489g　　W 489g　　陨石是地球以外未燃尽的宇宙流星脱离原有运行轨道或成碎块散落到地球或其它行星表面的、石质的，铁质的或是石铁混合物质，也称“陨星”。大多数陨石来自小行星带，小部分来自月球和火星。陨石根据其内部的铁镍金属含量高低通常分为三大类：石陨石、铁陨石、石铁陨石。　　Meteorites have traditionally been divided into three broad categories: stony meteorites are rocks, mainly composed of silicate minerals; iron meteorites that are largely composed of metallic iron-nickel; and, stony-iron meteorites that contain large amounts of both metallic and rocky material. Modern classification schemes divide meteorites into groups according to their structure, chemical and isotopic composition and mineralogy. Meteorites smaller than 2 mm are classified as micrometeorites. Extraterrestrial meteorites are such objects that have impacted other celestial bodies, whether or not they have passed through an atmosphere. They have been found on the moon and Mars.
